But she says ‘We’re all walking home’ so I think that first verse describes a collective of people carrying out various actions. In my mind it’s about club culture and the narrator is herself a singer. So the home she takes these club goers to is that nameless experience of pure joy found on the dance floor. Yet it’s a song which evokes pathos because the singer despite bringing a pure joy to others can not find it within herself.
As such, this track is centered on a lost soul – for lack of a better term. Despite being in a loving romance, Dido is not in a place where she feels totally comfortable with herself nor in control of her destiny. Rather she is just pointing out that what she is able to do for her partner she cannot do for herself. And overall she is highlighting a personal psychological disposition which challenges her.

However, she cannot “find way home”, thus implying that she cannot bring this same level of comfort to herself personally.
